I’m Samorn Selim.

I’m a lawyer turned career coach on a mission for us to take our careers from dread to joy. As the daughter of poor Lao refugees, I was told to pay my dues.

After coaching over 1,000 clients, I now realize that the idea that you have to pay your dues and work in a toxic place is a myth.

We can face our challenges head on, do work we are passionate about, and work with good people with kind hearts to make a big impact. So even as we struggle, we can find a sense of belonging.

Do you have a physical or mental illness that is debilitating?  And you had to figure out how to get help to recover and rebuild your life and career?  In this episode, we discuss:

- How being a workaholic in tech and ascending into leadership led to her burnout.
- How she had PTSD that was so bad she could barely walk or eat and could not sleep at night.
- How her son asking her why she was loving him less was the turning point for her getting help.
- What she did to overcome the stigma in Asian communities to get therapy and help.
- What she learned about giving yourself grace and compassion as part of recovery.
- Why she started PMDojo to increase diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in tech.
- What it means to find peace and happiness and have harmony in life.
